What is Photobiomodulation?
Photobiomodualtion, or laser therapy, is the use of low intensity light for therapeutic effects on the body.
Photobiomodulation provides targeted cells with packets of energy which can be used to repair and heal tissue. This is a fantastic way to help speed up recovery as well as reduce pain in a non-invasive and drug-free way.
It is also known to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, increase cell permeability to aid in the removal of damaged material, all helping with the management of pain and repair of tissue.
Beth has a Class 3b laser which is non-thermal, so there is no risk of burning. Most animals find the treatment process very relaxing as pain and inflammation reduces and endorphins are released.
What can it help?
Laser is an amazing tool in the complementary therapy box and is useful in its own right or alongside other therapies, such as McTimoney chiropractic.
Increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation allows chiropractic adjustments to work more effectively. In tern helping to reduce compensatory patterns and allow the body to function to it’s full potential.
As with all complementary therapies, Beth cannot diagnose conditions and must have consent from the patients primary vet to perform laser therapy on any patient.
