McTimoney Animal Chiropractic

This is a gentle, holistic chiropractic technique developed for animals by John McTimoney in the 1950s.

Holistic, a term for assessing the animal as a whole, ensures that we see everything, can refer back to the vet if needed, and then treat the animal appropriately for their age, condition and goals for the future.

The treatment itself is carried out using only our hands, allowing us to assess the pressure the individual needs to achieve the best outcome. Each adjustment is a fast, light movement carried out once on each misaligned vertebrae or bone identified through touch along the animal. A “misalignment” found indicates where a joint has become stuck in it’s range of motion. The adjustment given puts energy into the joint, allowing it the opportunity to regain it’s full range of motion. This allows the animal to move in the best, most symmetrical way possible improving health, welfare and performance.

Soft-tissue massage is incorporated alongside the adjustments to improve the effectiveness of the chiropractic treatment.

This unique treatment is ideal for maintaining optimum body alignment, for continued peak performance and injury avoidance, as well as aiding successful recovery from injury.

The McTimoney Animal Association is the regulatory body with which I am a member. The MAA ensures members hold the correct insurance and fulfil further educational development. More information about this can be found on their website.

AHPR is another regulatory body with whom I am a member. This again ensures members are properly trained, insured and continuing to maintain and develop knowledge.
